5 Days in Harrogate -Day Two

After a good nights rest we were raring to go and started with a really nice breakfast. To the hosts despair Pat had everything on the menu whilst I made do with two sausages and a slice of toast. While we were  eating we sketched out our plans for the day ahead which included Pat making an appointment to have her hair done, locate the Chinese restaurant we found on the internet, and just do some general window shopping.

Having the advantage of our previous visit, Pat knew the hairdresser’s she wanted to use so that was our first stop and the first disappointment of the day. They were fully booked but recommended another establishment a short walk away where Pat was able to get a booking. As luck would have it, and it was time we had some, the Chinese restaurant we wanted to find was just around the corner and looked quite nice. Two objectives achieved  quite early. The next couple of hours were spent leisurely strolling around until lunchtime when we found a place called  ‘Mama Doreen’s’ which is a smaller and rival to ‘Betty’s’.Very nice and no queueing. By this time the forecasted rain had started and it was more than just the odd shower. During the rest of the day I got soaked because Pat wouldn’t let me share our solitary umbrella. During our stroll we found a number of Art galleries to enjoy and to shelter from the persistent rain.

After lunch our meanderings took us close to where the Wetherspoon’s was located and I was determined to, at least, see it even if it was only from the outside. By this time Pat was starting to flag so she took a break in a pub (where else) close by while I completed my quest. To my amazement not only did I find it but it was open but access was from the rear only because work was being undertaken on the front entrance. Obviously the guy who told me it was closed for renovation hadn’t seen the notice at the front entrance (stupid man). Such excitement and another objective achieved. I returned to Pat and joined her having a drink before we started the trek back to the B and B. On the way I decided to check on the restaurant that was mysteriously closed the previous day. To my might delight it was now open so I booked for later that evening. Number four object achieved despite the inclement weather. Our cup runneth over.

Our meal that evening at the Vivido was really enjoyable and worth waiting for and rounded off another enjoyable, but wet and exhausting day.

As we prepared for bed I started to wonder whether this was actually a holiday or the recruitment SAS assault course.
