Hotel Alua - Day 7 Terry

 22nd April

When I booked this holiday I wasn’t expecting too much with regard to the weather so I have been pleasantly surprised as to how good it has been. Today was no exception.

My Boules reputation remains sky high after my team of four triumphed this morning. It is now generally accepted that I am the Nobby Stiles of Boules and the clamouring for my autograph from the female groupies is getting close to legendary proportions. Admittedly the age of these groupies is between 80 - 100 but beggars can’t be choosers.

Full of confidence, I entered the Dart competition but it soon became clear that the only thing that I have in common with the latest English dart protege is that I am little and he is Littler. I was immediately at a disadvantage as I could only aim at the bottom of the dartboard because I wouldn’t have been able to reach the darts to take them out otherwise. My dart career has probably been the shortest on record, 45 minutes.

Roger and I met up after lunch for our last bowls session as he goes home tomorrow. Having given it some thought I decided to alter my delivery stance and the improvement was instantaneous. Much more satisfactory than the previous sessions and I am happy to end my bowling days on that note.

The entertainment this evening was a nice looking young lady singer aged 25-30, I would guess. She had a nice voice and started off with the Supremes type music which is not really to my taste so I didn’t see the whole of her performance. I have been to many hotels where the overall quality of the entertainment fell way below what has been on offer here at the Alua. It proves you can’t please everybody.

Tomorrow will have to be a rest day otherwise I shall be burnt out and have to go on steroids or something similar. There are 6 new guests arriving (3 couples) and if they are as nice as the the guests that I have shared this week with, I will be more than happy. The company you keep can be a very important ingredient in whether you have a good holiday or not.Thats why Pat prefers to go on holiday without me.
