Hotel Alua - Day 6 Terry
21st April
Weather wise it was ‘normal service resumed’ this morning. The sun was out early and my spot in the grounds was warm and shielded from the little breeze that wafted up from time to time.
For some reason I know not what, I didn’t sleep well last night and subsequently woke up later than normal and for the first time I wasn’t the first person into breakfast being 30 minutes late. Of course my normal table was taken so I had to sit elsewhere. Poor me.
I have said previously that I try not to advertise companies or products unless they pay me. What a mercenary I am. But in this instance I am going to make an exception. My Host (Rep), as they are now called, noticed my absence at breakfast and, knowing something of my medical history, she was concerned and checked with the Maitre’d as to whether he had seen me enter the restaurant who informed her that he hadn’t. Maria checked with reception then checked my room and even walked all the way to the Sports bar to see if she could find me because she was worried that I had become ill. All to no avail until she found me stretched out by the back wall of the pool area, reading. Name me another holiday company whose Hosts care to the same degree as Maria. This a perfect example as to why Pat and I travel with SAGA. They are not perfect but they care about their guests. I was a bit embarrassed that she had gone to all that trouble but so thankful for being so well looked after.
The morning passed in a blessed state of laziness, which is part of what I came here for, and too soon it was time for lunch. For a very picky individual when it comes to food I have eaten well which says a lot for the chefs. One thing that I have noticed relating to all Spanish hotels (that is a lot) that I have visited is that soup spoons are not included in Spanish cutlery. Why is that I wonder?
I returned to my resting place (no, I’m not dead yet) after I had enjoyed yet another meal and continued doing what I hadn’t finished, which was nothing. I can be very good at that when I choose. I had a loose arrangement with Roger to have another torturous ordeal on the Bowls green but I didn’t see him around so continued doing nothing until it was time to go to my room and continue doing nothing.
A nice shower and a shave and bedecked in my finest apparel I was ready for dinner and looking forward to the evening entertainment. It was the same entertainer that was here last Thursday and sings anything from Opera to Pop. Certainly worth watching again. My cup runneth over.
Back in my room I wasn’t able to face-time Pat because she was entertaining our friend Keri. Sounds like a late night for them. Should my ears be burning?
