World Events

 1st March

When I began this blog I was determined that I would not get involved in British Party Politics or Religion but World Events is an entirely different matter.

I watched the footage of the meeting between Trump/J.D. Vance and Zelenskyy and was appalled at what I saw. Metaphorically, Vance held Zelenskey down while Trump thumped the s..t out of him. It was a disgraceful, distasteful and disgusting act of verbal violence and if that is what the U.S.A. considers Diplomacy to be then God help the rest of  Europe.

To tell the leader of a country, any country, that he doesn’t hold any cards and will have to ‘roll over’ and agree to any proposition put to him and, to boot, will have to hand over the deposit of minerals that the country is sitting on does not bode well for rest of us. If Trump allows Putin to take over Ukraine in its entirety does he really think that Putin will share the spoils?                                                              Is he going to tell the U.K. when we attempt to get a Trade Deal with the U.S.A. that we don’t hold any negotiation cards and if we want a deal it’s on his terms and his terms alone? Is he deluded enough to believe he can do the same with the European Union? Is this the reasoning that has prompted the Tariff threats to almost the entire world? It’s this type of delusion that led Hitler to believe he could rule the world so if any country is going to push the world into WW3 it’s America.

There is no doubt that this attitude is going to push the European Nations to circle the wagons because if they don’t Trump will use the ‘divide and conquer’ technique to pick off European countries one by one, not by military means but by ‘you scratch my back while I pick your pockets’. If you think this is far fetched please note that Trump has already expressed an interest in Greenland and Canada. There will now be many Brits who will express the view that this threat means we should rejoin the European Union. We do not have to go down that road, nor should we, but we must strengthen our ties with them, certainly on defence, and preferably through N.A.T.O.

One other thing for people to consider is that although, when one looks at the World map, the U.S.A is on the far left and Russia along with China are on the far right, spin the globe a few inches and you will see that Russia and China are close neighbours of the west side of America. Is this the reason why Trump wants a friendly relationship with Russia who are close allies with China?  What if Russia decides it wants Alaska back which it sold to the U.S.A and suffers sellers remorse? If these two countries team up and threaten America will Trump come to rue alienating his European allies?

There is much more to Trump’s apparent allegiance to Russia than meets the eye and unless the U.K and the other European countries recognize the danger Trump poses and work together to show him that he is going to take on a united front then we have a very troubling future ahead of us. Who is he going to try and humiliate next? Your guess is as good as mine but it will happen mark my words.

Rest easy and sleep well while you can.
