Hotel Salobrena Suites - Day 4 PAT
28th March
When I woke up this morning I found that I had transformed overnight into an 80 year old woman. I don’t feel or look any different so I’m taking the attitude that 80 is just a number. I had a nice message from Terry which could be classified as romantic laced with humour. I don’t think he likes people knowing that he is a softy at heart. Sort of a cuddly Teddy Bear with teeth.
During the morning a bottle of Rose wine and a candle in a tin had been delivered to my room which, no doubt, was organised by the Rep which was a nice surprise. Terry wanted to know what happened to other 79 candles. Some people are never satisfied. I decided that I would share the wine later with some of the other guests because I wouldn’t be able to drink it all by myself. I think I can already hear Terry laughing his head off in disbelief.
Today I am going to do what I came here for. NOTHING but eat, drink, read, people watch and sleep.
The pool here has been closed because of the very heavy rainfall in this area over the past month or so and it now has to be emptied and cleaned thoroughly before it will be fit to be used. There are some guests that are not happy about it but I came here knowing that it was unlikely that I would use the pool because at this time of year the water would be too cold. I like to have a swim but I like the water kissed and heated by the sun before I get in. The sun-beds are still in use but I often prefer a chair when I’m reading so the pool closure is not a problem.
I sat outside on a chair in the sunshine for a while on my own reading and after lunch went to my room and then decided to wash my hair. Washing my hair was not a problem but the dryer that was provided did not work so I was stuck with wet hair and nothing to dry it with other than a towel. A call to reception and a nice gentleman arrived very quickly with a new one to save the day.
Having got ready I went down to dinner and, at first, I was sat on my own but it was not long until the other guests arrived from the bar to join me. I put my Rose wine on the table for them to share but didn’t have any myself as I preferred the wine I already had. The meal completed we all went into the lounge and sat chatting, as you do, so I was a bit later contacting Terry than I normally am.
Another day is over and it has been a nice and relaxing birthday.
