Hotel Salobrena Suites - Day 1 (Part 2) PAT
25th March
Having arrived at the hotel I booked in at reception and then immediately made my way to the restaurant for lunch which I really needed having only had a bit of breakfast before leaving home and a small snack on the plane. The restaurant lunchtime session was beginning to draw to a close so the choice of what to eat was dwindling but I had no trouble finding something to quell my hunger pangs. This was not a perfect time even for first impressions of the restaurant or the food but I was satisfied and, when finished, made my way to the room allocated to me to see what lay in store.
The room was laid out in much the same way as most hotel rooms but I was pleasantly surprised that it was quite spacious (much bigger than some of the shoe boxes I’ve had to squeeze myself into on past occasions), well appointed and a full-on sea view from the balcony. What was not to like. The bed was also comfortable as I soon found out because I was now starting to feel tired. It had been a very early start so it was time for a nap.
I woke in time to make my way to the meeting that Chrissie, the Rep, was holding to acquaint us with the hotel facilities, trips available and the area around the hotel etc.and then back to the room to do a bit of unpacking before getting ready for the pre dinner drinks gathering organised by Chrissie. Dinner followed and I sat with some of the other guests that I had just been talking to although during the conversation I made my independence quite clear and was pleased that everyone else was of like mind. Dinner was much more leisurely and it was some time before we made our way to the lounge for a drink (or two). I decided to have an early night because I was still tired and I still had more unpacking to do.
During the day I had sent a couple of messages to Terry to tell him that I had arrived safely but unbeknown to me the WiFi had cut out and the messages had not gone through. By the time I realised this it was too late to do anything about it. I imagined him at home being quite grumpy about it but there was nothing I could do at that point.
Do I worry about Terry while I’m away? Of course I do especially after his illnesses and the possibility he might have of having what he calls ‘one of his blips’ but these are not serious and he has learned to deal with them. In all other respects he is more than capable of looking after himself, in other words, I have now got him house-trained almost to perfection.
A short read of my book and sleep came easily.
