Holiday Season Beckons
11th March
It was a miserable and very cold winter, or so it seemed to me, followed by Trump the Chump deciding to take on the world in various ways. The sun came out for a few days giving the impression that Spring had finally arrived but then did a disappearing act and the cold weather is back. Another disappointment.
I think we all need a bit of cheering up and one way of doing that is looking forward to our holidays. There is a multitude of ways to holiday: as a singleton, a couple or a group? Home or abroad? Europe or long haul? The list is endless.
Pat and I have to tailor our holidays to take into account our age and mobility, so in the main, we opt for short haul, all inclusive, package holidays although we don’t always go together. We used to be more adventurous but it’s time to accept the inevitable. I like to think that we are quite sociable but are lucky that we are both perfectly happy with our own company. We have become used to separate holidays because of various circumstances that prevailed in the past and have found that it has its advantages. Even when we go together we enjoy the holiday in different ways because we aren’t mirror images of each other and and what suits one doesn’t suit the other to the same degree so the holiday, by necessity, becomes a compromise. Travelling alone we don’t have to compromise and can do as we please, when we please. Being apart for a while gives us a sense of relief and release. Pat can be a bit of a loose cannon and an embarrassment at times and when we are together I am on edge when I remember one holiday when we had some really lovely weather and Pat went a complete fortnight without wearing a vest. Standards need to be maintained.
Pat is kicking off the holiday season this year on the 25th March when she flys (on an aeroplane not the broom she usually uses) to, not so sunny, Spain where the weather there at the moment is worse than here. Time for it all to change of course.
I will give you the skeleton information of her holiday as it proceeds but because I shall be going to this same hotel myself a little later in the year I don’t want to know any more than is essential because I like to explore with a fresh mind. More about this later on.
As a prelude to the coming holidays I have made a list of some songs that I hope you will try and that will get you in the mood for a good time. Romance or party time. Here goes.
